The Client

The client is company that provides specialized software for telecommunications companies to manage their revenue and monetization processes. The company uses modern technologies such as cloud computing, open APIs, artificial intelligence, and automation to help telecommunications operators take advantage of digital trends like 5G and IoT and achieve business success. The client has been leading the global market for over 20 years, and currently serves over 50 operators in more than 50 countries, processing more than one billion transactions per hour with its BSS solutions. The company has a track record of deploying mission-critical, large-scale platforms for global Tier 1 operators. 

In short, the client helps telecoms operators break free from relying on outdated and inflexible technology solutions from other companies, so they can introduce new offerings to their customers faster and stay ahead of the game in a rapidly changing industry.
The client came to XIM for help in developing their solution. XIM found and provided a team who have now been working essentially like dedicated in-house staff for the client since the early days.

The Project

The client offers telecom providers two main solutions:

  • A business support platform for mobile operators. Features include digital onboarding, catalog-driven operations, and fast partner integration in cloud environments with open standard APIs.
  • A 5G-ready, cloud-native billing system, offering real-time charging, flexible monetization, and scalability. The software is centrally managed, offers no-code configuration, and can be deployed within three months with open APIs for easy partner integration.

The goal of this project is to constantly develop the functionality, flexibility and scalability of the product, increasing monetization and attracting new partners.The client offers telecom providers two main solutions:

The Solution

Initial Challenges

In the telecom sphere, companies must constantly upgrade to new technologies and learn how to use them to stay competitive. The client’s product is technically sophisticated, with many components and, accordingly, a complex network of interactions between them. This means there are very few specialists with a complete knowledge of the system. Nobody on the labor market has prior experience with the solution, meaning that each new team member had to learn from scratch. The challenge for XIM was to find people with the necessary skills and experience to quickly understand the system and begin work.
One further challenge for XIM’s employees was transitioning from C / C++ to Java, especially for specialists in the field of testing

Forming the Team

XIM sourced and provided a team of experienced specialists with the rare skills required for this technically challenging project. While these were formally XIM’s employees, they quickly became core members of the client’s development team, working as dedicated full-time experts.

This means the client can reap all the benefits of continuous, long-term collegial relationships without having to deal with the difficulties of finding and managing these human resources. This is vastly preferable to having specialists come in on a one-off basis for a particular job and then leave again.

The Outcome

XIM’s collaboration with the client has been very successful. The client considers the provided specialists to be an integral part of their workforce. Quarterly reports show that the revenue is meeting the planned results, and the project is attracting more and more customers year on year. All parties fully expect to continue working together fruitfully for many more years to come.
